In preparing for the EAC accreditation, we have conducted several briefings, workshops and discussions to increase the awareness among the lecturers and also to make sure that as many lecturers involve in the process. The visit for accreditation in 2009 was based on OBE (EAC OBE manual was introduced in 2007!) which was different from the last EAC visit in 2004. In fact it was the first accreditation visit based on OBE. We have 'closed the loops' (see figure below) at the end semester 2 for 2009/2010 session. We continuously perform the analysis and quality improvement for all the loops.
Each of the loop shown above has different assessment tools. For example, the program outcomes loop assessment tools would be the exams, final year projects, lab reports, exit interview, industrial training, exit survey, etc. Some of the tools used direct measurements while some used indirect measurements. We try to use as many tools as possible to measure the outcomes in order to obtain accurate evaluation.
Here are some of the slides during the briefings that have been conducted by the department:
Towards EAC accreditation: briefing on the one of the assessment tools used for the program outcomes which are the grades for the exams, tests, quizzes, assignment, etc
Course Assessment Report (CAR): analysis tool that will be used to close the course outcomes loop. The assessment will be based on the exams, tests, quizzes, assignment, students feedback and lecturer's reflection.
Course Assessment Summary Report (CASR): analysis tool that will be used to close the program outcome loop. The assessment will be based on the exams, tests, quizzes, assignment, summary of students feedback and lecturers' reflections.
OBE - your role in the process: Summarizes on the role of every lecturer in the accreditation process
